What I Learned in a Year of Blogging: 5 Sweet & Simple Lessons (Plus a Left-Field Bonus!)๐Ÿง

๐ŸŽ‰ Miss-Stickers just turned ONE! ๐ŸŽˆ
Can you believe it? One whole year of posts, pictures, washi tape ramblings, sticker swoons, and stationery goodness! โœจ

When I started this blog, I had no idea where it would take me. I just knew I wanted to share my love of all things cute, paper-y, pastel, and fun. Now, 12 months later, Iโ€™ve learned so much โ€” not just about blogging, but about myself too.

So today, Iโ€™m celebrating this little milestone with 5 simple (but super real!) lessons Iโ€™ve learned from my first year of blogging ๐Ÿ’–

  1. Blogging Is a Slow and Steady Kind of Game ๐Ÿข
  2. Planning Ahead = Peace of Mind ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ
  3. Respect Your Energy Levels โœจ
  4. Love Your Topic or Lose Your Spark ๐Ÿ’–
  5. Donโ€™t Obsess Over Stats (Especially in the Beginning) ๐Ÿ“‰โžก๐Ÿ“ˆ
  6. Bonus Left-Field Lesson: Celebrate Everything (Even Small Wins!) ๐ŸŽˆ
  7. Hereโ€™s to Year Two! ๐Ÿฅ‚

Blogging Is a Slow and Steady Kind of Game ๐Ÿข

And I mean real slow. Like, the-turtle-AND-the-hare-would-finish-before-me kind of slow. ๐Ÿ˜…

I used to think that if I wrote a cute post and shared it on social media, people would magically find it. (Spoiler alert: nope, they donโ€™t.)

But Iโ€™ve learned that blogging is like growing a little garden โ€” it takes time, gentle watering, and a loooot of patience and determination. Sometimes it looks like nothing is happeningโ€ฆ until one day, a tiny sprout peeks out of the soil. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

Consistency doesnโ€™t have to mean posting every week โ€” it just means showing up again and again in a way that fits your own rhythm.
Trust me: it really does add up over time.

Planning Ahead = Peace of Mind ๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

Life happens. Itโ€™s not always something we can control โ€” but it is something we can plan around (a little).

I love writing when Iโ€™m in the mood, but that doesnโ€™t always mean I have tons of time to figure out what to write about. Thatโ€™s why Iโ€™ve learned how magical it is to have a plan. Even just a tiny content calendar or a list of ideas takes the stress off.

And hereโ€™s my new favorite trick:
๐Ÿ“ Always have one full blog post ready ahead of time.
This post? I wrote it last week! That means this week, I could focus on next weekโ€™s post without pressure.

If something unexpected happens โ€” like getting sick โ€” I know my blog wonโ€™t go hungry.
No more scrambling last-minute! ๐ŸŽ‰
(And really, I could teach classes on last-minute scrambling ๐Ÿ˜…)

Find (or create!) a system what works for YOU

Respect Your Energy Levels โœจ

This is a big one:
Just because I want to do all the thingsโ€ฆ doesnโ€™t mean I can. And thatโ€™s totally okay.

Getting sick last year was a big reminder of how important it is to check in with myself โ€” to pause, reassess, and prioritize. ๐Ÿ’ญ
(You might notice a shift in my posting rhythm because of that… So hey, I do practice what I preach! Just… with a slight delay. ๐Ÿ˜…)

And I think yes, I probably will get around to doing it all โ€” but not all at once! So I ask myself:

โžก๏ธ What needs to be done first?

Some weeks, I have the energy for fancy posts, big hauls, and lots of pictures. And other weeks? Just uploading one small post feels like a win.

Iโ€™ve learned to let my blog fit around my life โ€” not the other way around. ๐ŸŒธ

Love Your Topic or Lose Your Spark ๐Ÿ’–

If I wasnโ€™t absolutely obsessed with stationery, I probably wouldโ€™ve quit by now.
Honestly โ€” this is tough! There are days I want to give up. Days when I get zero comments, zero likes, and zero views. It feels pointless.

But thenโ€ฆ I see a new roll of washi. Or an adorable Cinnamoroll sticker. And I remember why I started. ๐ŸŒˆโœจ

Writing about something you genuinely love makes everything easier. It keeps the spark alive. It makes your posts more fun to write, and it makes your voice shine through. (Plus: unlimited gushing. Hello, sticker hauls.)

Loving what you do helps you show up even when it’s hard

Donโ€™t Obsess Over Stats (Especially in the Beginning) ๐Ÿ“‰โžก๐Ÿ“ˆ

In the beginning, I checked my stats way too often. Likeโ€ฆ multiple times a day. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
I thought it would motivate me โ€” that seeing numbers go up would feel like a little reward.

Spoiler: it didnโ€™t.

Instead of celebrating that I got two views, Iโ€™d spiral because โ€œno oneโ€ liked my latest post. Or Iโ€™d stress over mysteries like:
โ“ โ€œWhy is this printable being downloadedโ€ฆ but the post hosting the link to it says zero views?โ€
(Seriously โ€” still a mystery. If you know the answer, please tell me ๐Ÿ˜‚)

But hereโ€™s the truth: early blog stats are weird.
Theyโ€™re not always accurate. They donโ€™t tell the whole story. And they definitely donโ€™t measure how proud you should be.

What matters more is:
๐Ÿ˜Š Am I having fun?
๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ Am I proud of what Iโ€™m sharing?
๐ŸŒฑ Am I slowly building something I love?

If yes โ†’ the stats can wait. ๐Ÿ’–

Bonus Left-Field Lesson: Celebrate Everything (Even Small Wins!) ๐ŸŽˆ

Seriously โ€” celebrate everything! I did. I celebrated:

โœจ My first real comment (from an actual human!)
โœจ My first click from Pinterest
โœจ The day I figured out how to make evenly-spaced rows in Canva ๐Ÿ˜…
โœจ Every single little step forward

Doesn’t have to be a full blown block party. It can be as simple as a glass of your favorite drink, a bubble bath with soft music, or bingeing that series you love (while eating chocolate โ€” because everything is a celebration when chocolateโ€™s involved! ๐Ÿซ)

Celebrating the small stuff has made this whole journey so much more fun. So dance, laugh, shout โ€œWoohoo!โ€ โ€” even if youโ€™re in a crowded cafรฉ (as long as you donโ€™t mind the looks ๐Ÿ˜…) โ€” and celebrate every step. โœจ

How I celebrated my blog turning one ^_^

Hereโ€™s to Year Two! ๐Ÿฅ‚

Running this blog has been one of the happiest projects Iโ€™ve ever started, and Iโ€™m so excited for everything thatโ€™s still to come. More printables, more sticker hauls, more stationery nonsenseโ€ฆ and maybe a few surprises too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So whether youโ€™ve been here since the very first washi rollโ€ฆ or you just found me last week โ€” thank you. Iโ€™m so happy youโ€™re here ๐Ÿ’Œ

This past year was all about finding my voice, discovering what makes my heart happy, and building this cozy little corner of the internet.

But guess what? Iโ€™m only just getting started.

Year Two already has:

๐ŸŽ New surprises to download
๐ŸŽจ A creative project Iโ€™ve been dreaming about for months
๐ŸŒ And a whole new world I canโ€™t wait to share with you…
(Hint: itโ€™s full of cute characters and a little mystery ๐Ÿ‘€)

So if you’re into stationery, silliness, and soft cozy vibes โ€” stick around.
It’s going to be so much fun.
