Zebra Mildliner Mix Highlighters Review: A Different Kind of Highlighter ✨

Spring is finally here! 🌷 It’s that time of year when we open the windows, air everything out, refresh our closets… and maybe tackle something a little more ambitious, like sorting through a stationery drawer. ✨

A few weeks ago, I felt brave enough to do just that… and regretted it almost immediately LOL 😅

But it did lead to something unexpected: I rediscovered little treasures I had tucked away “for later”… and then completely forgot about. And one of those treasures was a brand new pack of Zebra Mildliner Mix Highlighters! 🌈

The Unboxing 📦

I can’t say the packaging was overwhelmingly beautiful (the design was even slightly off-center, so some of the text disappeared under the pens themselves), but I did love the artwork made with the highlighters. Enough to seriously consider keeping the backing just to try and recreate it. 🎨

The Pens 🖍️

If you’ve ever owned Mildliners, these won’t look any different at first glance. They’re that signature clean white, smooth to the touch, and perfectly standard in size.

White pens with double-colored caps and the words Mildliner Mix on them.

But if you look a little closer… 👀
The clip on the cap and the bottom tip hint that these might be hiding something special.

The Weirdness 👽

A white pen with the cap pulled off to reveal an odd-looking white tip that looks like a second cap.
A double color tip and swatch of pastel highlighter.

When I first pulled the cap off one of them, I was honestly confused. I had no idea what kind of tip I was looking at! I even tried to unscrew it for a moment before realizing… maybe it wasn’t supposed to come off 😆

So I put that strange little tip to paper, pressed a few times to get the ink flowing and—tadaaaa! ✨

The Feel ✍️

Three swatches of double-colored pastel highlighters.

It’s a genuinely unique experience. The pen behaves like a highlighter… but the colors don’t. Both shades come from the same tip. One tip, two colors.

You can tilt the pen to use just one color… or use it normally and let the two blend together beautifully. 🌈

The colors are crisp and bright, and the ink dries quickly on porous paper (I haven’t tested them on glossy surfaces yet). It flows effortlessly too, no skipping, no leaking.

Verdict ⚖️

Would I recommend them? Definitely. 💖

And who are they for?
Anyone who wants to breathe a bit of life into their note-taking, of course… but also anyone who enjoys adding a playful touch to a planner or journal.

They’re even perfect for little doodles in the margins during a very boring meeting. ✍️😌

TL;DR 📑

What they are: Zebra Mildliner Mix Highlighters
Pros: Two colors in one tip, no smudge and no bleed, can use one color or both for each pen
Cons: Bit pricier than normal highlighters, the double pink one could have had a more interesting choice of colors
My rating: 4/5 (because of the double pink)
Where to get them: Amazon used to have some, but most office supplies stores carry them

Final Thoughts 💭

So… maybe I did regret opening that drawer 😅 but it was totally worth it.

And like opening a window after a long winter, this felt like a small breath of fresh air… and maybe the start of finding my rhythm again. 🌿

I know it’s been a little quiet around here lately… I guess that happens when you need to step away for a bit (and maybe dig through a few drawers 😅). But I’m back.

The doodle of an eye made with the double-colored pastel highlighters.
